Even if I had only two days in Melbourne and even if I didn’t see that much of this city, I want to share a small guide about things you should do in Melbourne. 🙂 First of all I have to confess, that I didn’t do all of the things I’ll recommend in the following, but I’m sure they’re all worth a visit 😉

5 Things to do in Melbourne

1. South Yarra
South Yarra is one of Melbourne’s oldest inner-city suburbs. But that’s not the main reason why South Yarra is worth a visit, the main feautures of South Yarra are shopping, fashion, dining and entertainment. We walked along Chapel Street and visited the iconic Prahran Market, two things I really would recommend 🙂

2. Carlton
Carlton is the district, in which our hotel was located. It’s very italienate, you can find a lot of italian restaurants, shops and much more. If you’re looking for a good restaurant, you should go to Carlton or Fitzroy, you’ll definitely find at least one restaurant you would like to eat at 😉

3. Markets
Melbourne has a lot of markets all across the city, no matter if you’re looking for fresh food, irresistible treats, unique gifts or endless bargains. We visited to of them: Queen Victoria and Prahran. The Queen Vic Market offers everything from Australian fruit and vegetables, gourmet foods to cosmetics, clothing and souvenirs. At Prahran you’ll find premier fresh food.

4. Hosier Lane
The Hosier Lane is one of the MUST DO’s/ SEE’s in Melbourne. It’s one of Melbourne’s most famous graffiti lanes, where street artists are using the walls as a temporary canvas for their works. It’s very interesting and impressive, even if you don’t know the stories behind the paintings. But you can find street art not only on Hosier Lane, it is all around and you can find a piece of street art almost everywhere in Melbourne. Just walk the streets with your eyes wide open and you’ll find it 😉

5. Rooftop Cinema
Unfortunately we didn’t get tickets for the rooftop cinema, it was sold out the day before.. If you’re in Melbourne and the weather is nice, you should spend an evening at the rooftop cinema, but make sure to buy your tickets as early as possible otherwise you won’t get them. 😉

Where to eat in Melbourne

One of the things I really enjoyed during our stay in Melbourne was to eat, because Melbourne has a lot of really good restaurants with a good value for money. 🙂

1. Lemongrass
Lemongrass is a Thai restaurant in Carlton, which won several awards for their food. And guess what? They deserve them all, the food was delicious and we paid only 85AUD for two main courses, two desserts and two beer.

2. Sea Salt
If you’re looking for a good fish restaurant, I can recommend Sea Salt. They have different sushi rools and seafood dishes. We were hungry and oredered the family basket – well, it was a bit too much for two, but it was really good. 🙂
