Color Blocking: Combining purple and yellow

The first outfit I shared from Copenhagen Fashion Week was the first outfit I was wearing on our last day there. And today I want to share the second outfit I was wearing that day. If you have already seen the first outfit, you might know that I first wanted to wear something different for the last show that day. I had two outfit options, and I am happy I was wearing the first option in the morning because even though I first wasn’t a hundred percent sure about the colour combination, I ended up liking this outfit the most.

It’s not often that you see me wearing colours and it happens even less often, that I am putting together a colour blocking outfit. I can’t remember the last time I did this. Have I even ever done this?

Purple sweater combined with a yellow skirt

Before I share more details about this outfit, I want to tell you that this outfit wasn’t the only colour blocking look I was wearing during CPH Fashion Week. I was wearing another one the day before, and maybe the reason why I went for this look is, that I felt very comfortable in the other colour blocking outfit and I just wanted to do it again.

When I was at the fitting for the show and saw this skirt, it was love at first sight. I do like the print and colour a lot. I first just wasn’t really sure how to combine it. I tried on a few options, but they all seemed a bit too boring. When you have a look at the detail photo of the skirt, you might see that the print is purple. That’s the reason why I decided to try on a few purple pieces as well, and I ended up with this sweater. I knew I had to wear this outfit like this, but I wasn’t a hundred percent sure if I would feel comfortable in it since I rarely wear colours and I’ve never really done colour blocking. But Fashion Weeks are the best occasion to try something new, so I did it. And I am happy I did. I felt so comfortable in this outfit, and I would definitely wear it like this again – even on an office day in Berlin.

I didn’t have the perfect pair of shoes and a bag with me for this look, but you can never go wrong with black. That’s why I was wearing my black Balenciaga sneakers again as well as a black clutch in combination with this colour blocking outfit. If my feet had not hurt from the day before, I probably would have combined it with my black boots instead of the sneakers. Generally said, I would recommend to keep it simple in regards to the shoes and bags you want to wear with a colour blocking outfit.
